Sage Fly Rods
The Sage fly rod is a popular choice with beginning fly fisherman along, with the most experienced fly fisherman. Sage fly rods are top quality fly rods, and have a 30 year history of building high performance fly rods.
Sage was created back in 1980 by rod designer Don Green. Don brought his years of rod designing experience from Grizzly and Fenwick rod companies, and based the Sage business model on building fly rods with the best rod building materials.
Sage was originally started as the Winslow Rod Company, but was soon changed to Sage. The Sage company, located on Bainbridge Island, originally employed six employees and has grown to 175 employees today.
Sage developed an interesting fly rod distribution channel. Bruce Kirschner, formerly of K2 Skis, joined Sage as a partner and helped setup a network of special retailers to sell the Sage Fly Rod. Through these special retailers, customers could receive personal and specialized professional help and assistance from Sage fly rod experts.
Sage has won many awards for their top quality fly rods, and continue to be one of the most popular fly rods. Like Scott fly rods, Sage fly rods are high performance rods. The bottom line is, if you are a fly fishing beginner, or a fly fishing expert, you can’t go wrong with a Sage Fly Rod.
